Eat before a jam.
You use a rediculously large amount of energy at a bboy jam with all the cyphering, battling, and lack of hydration.
But I never ate the hours leading up to a jam because the physical activity makes me throw up anything I put in my system.
So i'm in the finals of this jam and i feel like i'm going to die, but i have no idea why i am so tired, why I can't connect anything I want, and why I can't think straight. I just chalked it up to nerves.
But as I began to get dizzy on the car ride home, i realized that I hadn't eaten anything since earlier that day.
So basically, eating food = building energy. Who knew? If you eat b4 a jam (but not RIGHT b4), you will have lots of energy throughout the competition.
I guess ya learn something new everyday.

Here's what I learned at the jam:
For starters, this was my first ever bboy jam.
The vibe of the battle was amazing. Anyway I learned that if I ever want to get good at bboying, working on moves is not the only thing I need to do, but put my on style into it, which means really feeling the music.
Btw, I agree. Dancing on an empty stomach probably isn't good.
Congrats on the win, also.

i would say that style is not only feeling the music, but also the types of moves you create, and the way you transition into and out of them. That in addition to your overall presence on the floor. But that's just my opinion.
