- in 2005 Sunni, Nick Mollin, and Chuck Li joined the club and with the help of Hip Hop Congress, held the 1st bboy battle in Bloomington, IN.

- in 2005 the first bboy battle in bloomington, IN was held on March 28 and was call SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.
was actually my first event to attend and battle. I still have tones of footage from it. I think coda was the president of hip hop congress at the time. it was crazy! well I thought it was since it was my first time that I seen other bboys.

Peace,
Regarding Bloomington's bboy history:
1. The first bboy that I knew of that was active in Bloomington was a kid by the name of Chris Higi aka Radioactive. He was originally from Fort Wayne and was an official member of the River City Breakers(est. 1994) from Fort Wayne, IN. He went to college at IU and would practice on one of the outside tennis courts on campus. He was eventually put down with the Midwest Royal Force(est. July 1997). Midwest Royal Force was founded by Myself, Sek1, and Clever. A few Midwest Royal Force practice sessions took place in Bloomington, IN on the IU Campus from 1997-1998. Chris is also an active Bloomington graf writer and was at many of the bboy battles which have taken place at IU.
2. The battle which occured in 2005 was called "Revival of the Fittest" not "Survival". I believe another one occured in 2006 under the same name though. The judges for the 2005 one was Myself(IN), Bravemonk(CHI), and Paco(ATL). The DJ was Topspeed(IN). The winner of the 3vs3 battle was Ground Syndrome(CHI). I'm not for certain who was the IU Hiphop Congress president at the time. But I do know it was not me. I have never been part of Hiphop Congress, yet I do highly support their positive upliftment of the culture.
I will eventually post up a Fort Wayne history...

Peace,
Also, I do have history with Julian.. I can't remember exactly what year it was I first met him though. If I remember correctly he was originally from Louisville and use to kick it with MRF every once in a while back in the late 90s, but then again this could of been when MRF mutated into Jedi Imperialz at a later date.. Sek1 definitely knows more about that time period and how its connected with Julian. For those who don't know, Julian is the voice behind "Strike!", "Nice!" and stuff like that on the Nintendo's Wii Bowling game. There was also an Asian bboy that attended IU who was originally from St. Louis. This was around the same period Jedi Imperialz. And no, this kid was not Chino. He pre-dated Chino by 4yrs probably.
Peace, Coda WOR/UZN

West Lafayette (Purdue)
circa 2005 - Eric Chow (Eyce) comes to Purdue from the Cornell bboy scene for grad school. Starts the Boiler Breakers, official bboy club with friends.
2006 - Sandy arrives at Purdue. Club consists of 3 active members. Practice in a crappy basement hallway on campus.
2007 - Shaman comes to Purdue from NJ and Matic & Lori join the club. Start doing shows to promote Boiler Breakers. 4stylz crew is formed from the best 5 members in the club. First battle they participate in is Bloomington's Battle Before Xmas. Also first time meeting and practicing w/ the IU bboys.
2008 - InPulse and Zifer join the club. Move practices to Rec Center. Club wins the first cash prize for a competition at Purdue. 4stylz travels to their farthest jam, Falling w/ Style 4 in MN with Beatsick. Also battle at Breakin' Even.
2009 - Gnat, Pryme, Shin and Ryan come to Purdue. 4stylz changes their name to Broke Dancers. Members battle at Indestructible Soul, IL Breaks 6, Battle Shmattle 3, Smoking Permitted, Battle Before Xmas 2 and Winter Breaks, among others. Performed in over 10 shows at Purdue, including one with Grand Wizard Theodore.
2010 - Stay on your toes! West Lafayette is coming up big... and taking no prisoners. Hopefully holding first battle at Purdue.
*add/correct anything you find wrong... my dates may be a little off, especially those first few years.*

the NWI scene is very sketchy.. not sure if anyone knows the history for sure. this is what i come to understand
Back in the 90s Joel joined phaze 2. but after him and smoke went at it (smoke didnt like the idea of him being from indiana) Joel left them. Valentino and Eric (joels younger brothers) heard of a practice spot in chicago. all 3 went and young pakorn asked them to be down with the brickheadz.
Somewhere along the way (90s) Dave brick from NWI also joined the brickheadz.
they made up the NWI scene for a long time.. also the name puppet seems to pop up but i dont know much about him.
in 2005 maybe? Me, Eddie Blaze, Looney, Strings and Spyda met Valentino, cico, joel, p-dub, wayne, dave, shorty, ruel and sell in rowan park. and practiced with them for a while. Looney, strings and spyda moved away and all but spyda stopped dancing.
after a few months me and eddie blaze lost contact with them and have been all over the place until aug. 2008 where we met again, and started practicing hard ever since.
many bboys have come and gone ever since but the scene here seems to be growing a slowly... i will try to ask around since im sure theres alot more history to this. and if anyone knows anything let me know haha
also as im told Joel was one of the top power heads in the 90s and according to a few people retired undefeated. he still throws down hard... just doesnt battle anymore haha

Peace, elgato, Puppet is an old friend of mine... He use to be down with Midwest Royal Force. I have tons of old footage of him when he use to be in my crew and lived in Fort Wayne for quite sometime. He quit breakin and started poppin under the wing of Cartoon Da Pharaoh. A couple of other older history gems from the NW Indiana territory... There was a crew called TNT that use to be nasty as fuck from the early 90s from around that way. Numbers the Vice President of the rockin crew Dynasty Rockers is originaly from NW Indiana and was the first "TRUE" bboy that I had ever met in real life. During that time period he claimed to be down with Rock Steady Crew and was an official member of the Universal Zulu Nation under Lord Cashus D and the Chicago Chapter. He tells me that he was also the first to have an actual UZN Chapter here in the State of Indiana, but I've heard other stories about him being in RSC and Zulu officially... so who knows the real truth. But he was a big steppin stone for me when I initially met him. Because I could tell the difference of headz that tried to do what I did and somebody that was doing it with knowledge of the dance like he had at the time. I'll have to get with Numbers in regards to the History of the NW Indiana, because I know he knows it quite well since he was heavily involved in that area for years upon years. He eventually moved to Florida, NYC, and now resides in Vegas. Peace, Coda Weaponz of Rhythm UZN Tomahawk Chapter

It started in 1983ish ...the first crew I was in was called b.o.l.d. (Breakers of Latin decent )...I was 6 years old with my uncle who went by skeem....there was also t.u.f.f boys and tnt breakers and papkorns crew called on some ...I had stop b boying when I turned 8 I got hurt in a routine so my moms made me ....then I started back up in 1993 with .s.s.b (south side breaker) it's was me lil sal and Jon Jon ...then I met umbe who is cartoons lil brother then we became tnt...the I left them and started d.2.r ( down to rock ) and news crew ( never ending well style) or ( no enemies will succeed ) ....around that time A lot of people started to quit breaking and became game Bangerz and drug dealers.... And at that same time my boy Kiko met popkorn at street lingo battle and he invited us to go practice with him at Bessemer park in the south side that was in 1997ish and ever since then I have been a member of the brickheadz
